How it works,
every last piece of it.

The home page is the short version. This page is all of it. What your customer gets. What shows up on your phone. The control panel. Your first two weeks. What you pay, and the rules we follow.

The idea

A missed call stops being a lost customer.

What it is not

  • Not a robot that talks to your customer. Nothing holds a conversation for you. Nothing makes promises for you.
  • Not an answering service. No stranger picks up your phone and reads a script about your business.
  • Not mass texting. Only people who called you get a text — one text per missed call.

The flow

From missed call to booked job.

  1. The call comes in. Nobody picks up.Your phone rings the way it always has. Nothing gets in your way and nothing answers before you do. This only starts after the call goes to voicemail.
  2. They hear your voicemail greetingYour same greeting, plus one line that says a text is on the way. We write that line for you.
  3. The text goes out right awayIt comes from your texting number, in your business name, and it says whatever you want it to say.
  4. They answer when they canThis is the part that wins the job. A text can wait. A phone call can't. So they stop calling around and wait for you.
  5. Their answer shows up on your phoneTheir number, their message, and one tap to call or text them back. It can go to your email too.
  6. They can leave a voicemail as wellWe record it and write it out for you. It waits in your control panel, so you can read it instead of listening to it.

Your side

What lands on your phone.

You get all of these, not one of them. The text, the email and the pop-up all go out for the same missed call. A lead nobody sees is the one thing we will not risk.

Your control panel

Everything's yours to change.

You get your own web page. Just yours. You can change anything on it from your phone in a few seconds. Here is what is on it.

These are the phonedesktop screens. Open this page on your computerphone to see the other one — same panel, laid out to fit.
The control panel's shift settings: a shift called Weekday mornings sending to Dave the owner, weekdays from 7 AM to 12 PM, with an Add shift button below it.
Who gets the texts, and when. Mornings to you, afternoons to your foreman, weekends to whoever is on call. Add as many shifts as you need. If you leave a gap, or two shifts cover the same hours, the page tells you before you save.
A voicemail in the control panel, with the caller's number, a written transcript and a play button.
Every voicemail, already written out. Read them in the van instead of holding the phone to your ear. Or hit play.
The voicemail greeting screen: a recording the business made in its own voice, with a daytime and an after-hours version to play, and buttons to turn it off or delete it.
Your own voice on your voicemail. Record it right on this page — no app, no file to find. We clean it up and add the legal line for you. Change it as often as you like, or leave it to us.
The message wording screen, where the automatic text and the confirmation text can be rewritten and saved.
What your text says. Type what you want and hit save. Empty the box to go back to ours. Either way, we add the legal line.
A month summary showing missed calls recaptured, customers texted back and voicemails received.
What it did for you this month, next to last month.

These are real screens from the real control panel. The company in them is made up. We never use a customer's data.

One more thing, not pictured: pop-up alerts for the office computer, turned on with one button.

Getting started

Your first two weeks.

  1. Day one — you sign upIt takes a few minutes. We save your card but we do not charge it. Then we send you a setup page with your own codes already filled in.
  2. Day one to two weeks — your texting number gets registeredThe phone companies make every texting number register to the business that uses it. That is what keeps your texts out of spam. We file all of it. You never deal with the phone companies.
  3. Go-live day — it switches onThere is one small change to make on your phone line. Follow your setup page, or we can get on the phone and do it with you — your call. Then your next missed call gets your first text.
  4. That same day — your first chargeThe $199 starts when the service starts, not when you sign up. If it takes two weeks, those two weeks cost you nothing.
We need almost nothing from you. A few minutes, and one change on your phone line. Not sure about your EIN or your exact legal business name? Leave them blank. We will sort it out with you.

What it costs

$199 a month. That's the whole price list.

  • If Boomerang does not help you book at least one new customer in a month, tell us. That month is free. No hoops. No hassle.
  • How to claim it: text, call or email. Any way you like, within 30 days of that month's bill.
  • What we ask: just tell us. You do not have to prove anything, fill in a form, or talk to anyone but me.

The rules

Is this even legal? Yes — and here's why.

Business texting has real rules. Most of what gets a business in trouble is the stuff we will not do on purpose.

In the field

What this looks like in your trade.

Plumbing

A burst pipe at 8pm. You are under a sink across town with the water running. She gets a text before she can call the next plumber, and the emergency job is yours.

HVAC

First hot week of the year and the phone never stops. The calls you cannot get to still get answered. You work through the replies in the van instead of losing them.

Electrical

You are up a ladder with both hands busy. The text asks what they need. So what waits for you is "panel keeps tripping", not a missed call you have to chase.

Roofing

A storm comes through and forty people call every roofer in town at once. Every one of yours hears back from you, and hears back first.

Still wondering

The questions people ask us.

What happens if someone calls while I'm already on the phone?
That is a missed call like any other, and one of the most common. The caller goes to voicemail, the text goes out, and you handle it when you are off the first call.
Do I need a new phone, an app, or any hardware?
No. Your phones stay exactly as they are, and the texts come in as normal text messages. The control panel is just a web page, so it works on the phone or computer you already have.
What if a customer texts back something I need to answer right now?
You call or text them right from the message we send you. Our job is done the second their message is in your hand. After that it is your conversation, on your own number.
Can two of us get the messages at the same time?
Yes. One shift can send to more than one phone, and you can add an email address too. Most shops use the owner plus whoever is on call.
What happens if I cancel?
Your voicemail goes back to the way it was and the texting number stops. It ends at the end of the month you paid for. There is nothing to send back and nobody who will try to talk you out of it.
Who am I actually dealing with?
James, the owner. The same person answers the phone, helps you set up, and fixes anything that goes wrong. Boomerang Technologies is based in Sacramento County, California.
What happens to the voicemails and numbers you hold?
Voicemails delete themselves after about 90 days, and you can delete one sooner from your control panel. We only use a caller's number to send your own reply. We never sell it, never share it, and never use it for marketing. Our Privacy Policy has the full detail.

Your business

Where to forward replies

For your texting registration

Carriers require every texting number to be registered to the business it texts for — that's what keeps your texts out of spam filters. We file all of it for you; you never deal with the phone companies. Your EIN is used only for this registration.

This has to match your EIN paperwork exactly — the phone carriers check the two against each other. If you don't have an EIN, leave this blank. We ask for this twice because your official company name may differ from the one you use with your customers. (Ex: Valley HVAC vs Valley HVAC LLC)

If you are unsure about your EIN or Legal Business Name, just leave them blank and check out - we will help you figure it out personally.

Start your setup — $199/mo

Boomerang Text Follow-Up Service

Nothing charged today · first charge when your line goes live

$199/mo

For businesses with exceptionally high call volumes, we may adjust your pricing down the road to cover the extra messaging costs — and we'll always have that conversation with you first. Most businesses will never get this many calls; but if you do, trust us — you'll be making enough that the slight price increase will likely have paid for itself many times over. However, for most, $199 is all you'll ever pay.

You won't be charged today. We securely save your payment method through Stripe and get your setup started. Your first $199 monthly charge happens only once your text line is verified and live — typically 1–2 weeks. Cancel any time before then at no cost.

The service

When a call to your business goes unanswered, Boomerang automatically texts the caller back and forwards their reply to the phone number you designate.

Billing

$199/month, billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Your payment method is securely saved when you sign up but is not charged until your text line is verified and goes live (typically 1–2 weeks after signup); that first charge begins your monthly billing. Cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial-month refunds outside the guarantee.

Rate adjustments

For businesses with exceptionally high call volumes, pricing may be adjusted to account for the additional messaging costs involved — and we'll always have that conversation with you first. The vast majority of service businesses will never come close to that threshold. For most, $199 is all you'll ever pay.

Risk-free guarantee

Any calendar month you can't identify at least one booking facilitated through Boomerang, you may request a full waiver of that month's fee. Requests must be made within 30 days of that period's billing date.

Your disclosure duty

You agree to notify your customers of the automated text follow-up in your voicemail greeting and, if you operate a website, on that website. We provide the exact wording.

Setup & your numbers

Setup uses a call-forwarding change on your phone line. We send you a setup page with your own codes on it, and we can complete it with you on a call if you want one. We confirm the numbers you provided before going live. You're responsible for the accuracy of those numbers.

Messaging rules

Messages are transactional only: they answer a call the person just made to you. No marketing. A promotional text is any message meant to advertise or encourage a purchase — sales, discounts, coupons, price lists, seasonal or holiday offers, new services, upsells, “we miss you” check-ins, referral asks, and requests for a review or rating all count. You may not send any of those through Boomerang, even to someone who called you first, and even if you attach it to a reply that started out transactional. Your messages may identify your business, respond to the missed call, and arrange a time to talk — nothing further. Recipients can opt out any time by replying STOP, and message & data rates may apply to them.

Responsibility

Boomerang Technologies acts as a technical service provider. You're responsible for lawful use of the service in your jurisdiction and agree to the indemnification terms in the full Terms of Service.

Delivery & termination

Message delivery depends on carriers and third-party networks and can't be guaranteed. Either party may terminate as described in the full Terms.

This box is a plain-English summary, written to help you decide. It is not the agreement itself, and nothing in it adds to or changes the agreement. If anything here reads differently from the full documents, the full Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and SMS Terms are the ones that count. Those three documents are the agreement between you and Boomerang Technologies, and checking the box below means you have read and agreed to them. California law governs this agreement.
